From February through to the summer months the gardens are abloom with all kinds of flowers especially the Kairaku-en’s renowned plum trees.

Chiba is another interesting site to visit located east of Tokyo facing Tokyo bay. Here too you will find plenty of seaside attractions with numerous popular beaches as well as a bustling business district and the world’s longest monorail. The Tokyo Disney theme parks are also close to Chiba and your flight to Tokyo will be arriving at Narita airport, which is also not far from here.


Kofu is amongst the most magnificent historical cities close to Tokyo heading towards the west. Here you can visit some outstanding cultural landmarks such as the Maizuru Castle Park, the Takeda Shrine and the Kai-Zenkou temple.

Utsunomiya is located to the north of the capital and is famous for its huge Bell Shopping Mall at a stone’s throw from the JR Train station. This town is ideal for ardent shoppers looking for a selection of goods and clothing options.

These locations are all quite near Tokyo, although you might find it more enjoyable if you stay for at least one night as there are so many sites and attractions to visit.
